She has been writing for the the new yorker, the new yorkw york times for many years now, and many of you probably noticed because youre but in all of work she has this super home able to make every detail fascinating and crystal clear. In this one casey works to layout two intertwine can mysteries, one in the story of reverend Willy Maxwell and his trials and the other in the unissued work of a beloved literary market and she has contagious dedication to seeing them through and doing them as much justice as possible. Trust me, and also every person i think who works in this book store in this room, this is a book that you actually cannot put down and i mean it seriously. If you want to understand how markets, and creative destruction, work, just turn to the comics page in your local newspaper. If you can find a copy. Newspaper circulation is tumbling. Yet comics, and the newspapers they appear in, exist in the free market. As newspapers fade, people will be forced to find other ways to follow their beloved strips. Artists will adapt. Some will go out of business. Others will thrive, perhaps by moving to Web-only strips supported by advertising. Government, on the other hand, doesn’t adapt.
In recent years, drug prices have risen faster than inflation. Politicians are blaming this on businesses known as pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and, not surprisingly, are moving against PBMs with legislation. Yet the legislation will only make drug prices rise.
Young Americans need “a stiffening of the vertebrae,” according to prominent businessman Elbert Hubbard. Hubbard laments their “foolish inattention” and “dowdy indifference,” only for him to perhaps find a silver lining within their soft existence: socialism will have no chance with the young, and it won’t because if our youth “won’t act for themselves, what will they do when the benefit of their effort is for all?” The future is bleak for America’s young people?
