Although the number of new infections in the Southeastern Asia nation are relatively low, compared to neighbouring countries there is a growing concern of rapid increase of local COVID-19 transmisions. As quoted in the local media recently, Dr Rui Maria de Araújo, Coordinator of Integrated Center of COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, said six new infections of COVID-19 reported in the country on February 25 were traced to local transmissions after performing swab tests to communities living near the border.
