Ten years ago, Maurice Gardiner helped pull bodies from the crumpled remains of the CTV building, as his own sister lay buried somewhere in the rubble. Donna Manning, a producer and presenter for Canterbury Television, was one of 115 people killed when the building collapsed during the magnitude-6.2 earthquake that struck the city on February 22, 2011. It was just the start of a devastating month for Gardiner and his family. The next day, a photo of Manning’s children, two teens in the throes of grief, was captured.
