Theres peer mentoring, theres peer mediation, therere a variety of Different Things that we can do. With peer mediation, we work with youth to help each other resolve conflict, which is a tremendously useful thing in this day and age because there are so many opportunities for youth to be in conflict, not just in person now, but digitally. Its a continuous process through your whole lifespan, so its important to continue working on recovery. What i do to help people that are still in the program i support the newcomers and show how ive become sober, then explain what ive gone through. Spiritual and psychological needs would just be missing the boat, in my mind. Alright. Alison. I think i have two answers. I think first and foremost, just because Mental Health and Substance Abuse issues typically present at the young adult and adolescent age, doesnt mean thats when we should Start Talking about them. There are so many skills and conversations that we can have before then, that i just think its so crucial that we dont wait until it hits and it becomes severe that we actually Start Talking and doing something about it. And especially for young adults themselves, they have to understand and be prepared for what they may be experiencing. And then i think the otherto piggyback on both what vanna and jim has saidis just the issue of empowerment we have to meet students, young people where they are.
