Coronavirus: 144 Fatalities, but Only 2,804 New Cases Registered
Fully 144 Covid patients, generally elderly and suffering from an underlying illness, died over the past 24 hours, while 2,804 infected were officially registered, bringing the total number of infections to 288,567, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Wednesday.
The death toll has risen to 7,381, while the number of people who have made a recovery has increased to 83,940.
The number of active infections stands at 197,246, while there are 7,639 hospitalised Covid patients, 574 on a ventilator.
Altogether 42,467 people are in official home quarantine, and the number of tests carried out has risen to 2,406,171.
On November 10, lawmakers extended the government’s special powers by 90 days, allowing the government to suspend the application of some legislation, diverge from legal provisions and take other extraordinary measures by decree.

The death toll stands at 7,237, while 83,115 have made a recovery.
The number of active infections stands at 195,411, while 7,845 patients are in hospital, 597 on ventilators.
Fully 42,752 people are in official home quarantine, while the number of tests carried out has risen to 2,393,535.

Coronavirus: First Doses of Vaccines Expected in Late December
Small quantities of coronavirus vaccines could arrive in Hungary already this month, but mass vaccination can start in 2021, a National Public Health Centre (NNK) official said on Monday. According to the Prime Minister, frontline healthcare staff will be inoculated in the first phase, followed by patients with chronic illnesses.
Ágnes Galgóczi, head of the epidemiology department, told a press conference that Hungary had contracted 17.5 million doses of vaccines from various manufacturers. The licensing procedure of the vaccines is continually being monitored, she said.

Man in mid-20 dies of Covid-19 in Lithuania, youngest victim of pandemic

A 27-year-old man has died of Covid-19 in Lithuania, the youngest pandemic victim in the country so far. Health officials say he did not have any known prior health conditions.
The man was from Lithuania s western Marijampolė County and was hospitalised in Kaunas Clinics, according to the National Public Health Centre. His death was reported on Thursday morning.
“We received information from the medical institution that Covid-19 claimed the youngest victim so far, a person who was in their 20s,” Justina Petravičienė of the NVSC said.
