Lithuania confirms first case of Brazilian Covid-19 variant

The first case of the Brazilian variant of the coronavirus has been confirmed in Lithuania, the country s National Public Health Surveillance Laboratory reported on Tuesday.
Epidemiologist Gytis Duda says the mutation is considered more dangerous because it poses a higher risk of re-infection or infection after vaccination.
The National Public Health Centre says that the infected person caught the virus abroad, so the Brazilian variant is unlikely to be spreading in Lithuania.
The laboratory also identified 469 cases of the British variant and 15 cases of the B.1.620 variant that was first found in Lithuania s Anykščiai.

People travelling to Lithuania will need to fill out the questionnaire no earlier than 48 hours before departure, the country’s Health Ministry said on Monday in its weekly travel update.
The questionnaire and registration is available on the website of the National Public Health Centre (NCSC).
Meanwhile, the Seychelles have been added to the list of countries and regions most severely affected by the pandemic. Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Jordan, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Lebanon have been removed from the list.
Arrivals in Lithuania are required to self-isolate for 10 days. However, those coming from the listed countries must self-isolate in accommodation separated from other family members and are not allowed to go outside. All other arrivals can go for walks within one kilometre of their homes.
