Maritime travel involves a lot of risks and there is a need for the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji to look at covering injuries involving maritime travellers.
This, according to iTaukei Affairs Board deputy chief executive officer Josefa Toganivalu.
He made the comment at the Maritime Travellers Rights consultation in Nadi last week.
“Maritime travel includes a lot of risks during travel, getting on and getting off and also the weather and the cargoes involved,” Mr Toganivalu said.
“I believe the ACCF had already covered the roads and other injuries and this does not include maritime travel and I stand to be corrected on that.
