The Central Government on 30 March has exempted basic customs duty on all imported drugs and Food for Special Medical Purposes for personal use for the treatment of all Rare Diseases listed under the National Policy for Rare Diseases 2021. The import duty waiver will come into effect from April 1.
In a letter to Mr Mandaviya, Varun Gandhi noted that the 'National Policy for Rare Diseases, 2021' was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on March 30, 2021 to save the lives of patients suffering from rare diseases.
