Mayor Brandon Kelliher invites North Platte residents to commit to not providing tobacco, alcohol or other drugs to youth.
It’s too destructive.
Kelliher issued the invitation in a mayoral proclamation on Thursday morning, April 8 National Marijuana Prevention Day.
“The time to talk to youth is now. The risk of marijuana is real,” organizers from Lincoln County Community Connections say.
Marijuana (cannabis) is more legal these days than in the last 80 years or so. Cannabis has been regulated in every U.S. state since the mid-1930s. Today, the medical use of cannabis is currently legal in 36 states, and 16 states have legalized the recreational use of marijuana.
