Council Leader THE official census is just days away now on Sunday 21 March. The census is a unique survey that happens every 10 years. It gives us a snapshot of all the people and households in England and Wales – the most detailed information we have about our society. By taking part, you can help inform decisions on services that shape your community, such as healthcare, education and transport. The Council and many of our partners use census data in planning and delivering a huge array of services. For example, the census data helped us identify and improve the energy efficiency of many ‘fuel poor’ properties across the borough. Over the past 10 years the Council has used data from the 2011 census to successfully apply for funding which has provided for a range of insulation measures, new central heating systems and replacement boilers all of which are helping to reduce fuel poverty levels and improve the health and well-being of some of our most vulnerable residen
