14 fallen officers honored in Collier County during National Law Enforcement Week Published: May 13, 2021 10:20 PM EDT Updated: May 15, 2021 10:57 PM EDT Recommended Families gathered during National Law Enforcement Week to honor 14 fallen officers from Southwest Florida. A memorial and candlelight service was hosted by Collier County Sheriff’s Office at First Baptist Church of Naples in North Naples Thursday night for the local officers who died in the line of duty. Among those honored was Sgt. Steven Dodson, who died in the line of duty in 2017. Life without her son is still tough on mother Phyliss Dodson Martin. “A sudden death is not just taking a whole in your heart,” Phyliss said. “It’s taking a hole in your life.”

(KWNO)-As part of National Law Enforcement Week, Winona County authorities took time Wednesday to honor fallen officers who served the area.   Members of the Winona Police Department, Winona County Sheriff’s Office, and other local officials gathered to lay flowers on the memorials of Investigator John Schneider, Corporal Ted Foss, and Officer Matthew Hamilton. Last year’s ceremony was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   Investigator Schneider, who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance in 1980, is the subject of an episode of the Officer Down Memorial Podcast.

May 11, 2021 6 hrs ago The name of Racine police officer John Hetland was added to a memorial marker with the names of the 17 other Racine County law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty since November 1918 in a ceremony Tuesday May 11, 2021 during national Law Enforcement Week. Hetland was killed June 17, 2019, when he tried to stop the armed robbery of a restaurant and bar he was dining at while off-duty. The ceremony was part of the county s annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Hantschel Park, named for city police officer James J. Hantschel who was killed May 15, 1963. No ceremony was held in 2020 because of the pandemic.

Bartlesville Police Department Holding Memorial Service For Officers Killed In The Line Of Duty The Bartlesville Police Department is holding its annual memorial service for officers who have been killed in the line of duty within their county as part of National Law Enforcement Week. This year, the department is adding another law enforcement name to their list for the first time in more than 80 years. The service is being held at noon Wednesday in front of the department building on Johnstown Avenue and the public is welcome to attend. This year, they are reading off the 30 names of those who have lost their lives on the job in Washington County, with the most recent addition being WCSO Deputy Kyle Davis who was killed in the line of duty in March when deputies say an inmate attacked him.
