United daughters of the confederacy but a branch in boston that is now defunct. It is behind a Visitor Center on an island in bostons harbor outside the National Historic monument called fort warren where thousands of confederate soldiers were imprisoned. The monument only remembers 13 soldiers that died and it has a confederate feel, has their wars, and calls civil between the states. Before the statue was taken down there was a plaque next to it basically saying that it was that the statue was erected as part of a lost cause project voted to the confederacy and White Supremacy. That was ok. Gone, i thinkare what i would like to see is the base maintained. For the statues themselves are removed but the bases stay there in order to reflect on the one hand the fact that there was a political project dedicated to White Supremacy that had a long history that is deeply tied with the creation of the nation.
