Somersworth to acquire armory as National Guard leaves city

Somersworth to acquire armory as National Guard leaves city By Megan Fernandes SOMERSWORTH The New Hampshire National Guard plans to vacate its armory property in Somersworth and hand it back over to the city by the end of June. The 65-year-old armory at 15 Blackwater Road sits on 4 acres of land that was deeded to the New Hampshire National Guard in 1950. The original parcel was roughly 11.5 acres, but some of that land has been turned over to the city over the years, including what is now a baseball field. In the deed, the National Guard agreed that if the armory no longer suited its needs, that the property and buildings would be given back to the city at no cost.
