It was a long haul since January of 2021 but as of midnight tonight there will be no National Guard personnel on the Capitol, confirmed Brigadier General John Driscoll, Task Force Commander of the Guard s Capitol mission.
It was a deployment he never expected. We read about it in the Civil War but we never ever thought we would come back to the Capitol and defend the capitol ever again, he said.

I asked our Congressman, the retired National Guard Brigadier General, to explain his no vote on the recent Defense Authorization Bill, HR #6395, which passed 333–76. 140 Republicans voted for it. His response is MIA.
Our Department of Defense is an obese entity. However as I read it, this bill does not inflate the Department of Defense (DoD), it supports it, including funding our cyber security at home and abroad. It provides healthcare for our heroes in uniform. The budget of the DoD is one thing, keeping the DoD fit is another. So why did Representative Scott Perry object?
