CHARLESTON â Gov. Jim Justice said Wednesday he is ânauseated beyond belief watching the politiciansâ in Washington play politics with another stimulus package for COVID relief.
A $900 billion package was finally passed by both the House and Senate, but months after something should have been passed, he said, and Pres. Donald Trump now says he will veto it, insisting the checks to individuals should be $2,000 rather than the $600 included in the package. Trump also objected to how some of the money in the bill is âwasted.â
Justice said during his pandemic briefing he supports the $2,000 per taxpayer direct payments.

CHARLESTON â The first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine could be administered in West Virginia âwithin days.â
Gov. Jim Justice said Wednesday the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) is scheduled to have an all-day regulatory meeting today, where it is expected they will discuss the Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer vaccine.
âFDA officials have said they plan to make a decision on approving this emergency authorization within four days of the meeting, though I hope to the good Lord above that they can approve it even faster than that,â he said. âThe federal government tells us that, within 24 hours of receiving the FDA approval, West Virginia will begin receiving shipments of the vaccine. Within 24 hours of receiving the vaccine, we will be vaccinating people.â
