New coloring book salutes women pioneers in STEM

The downloadable digital publication, Think Like A Girl: A Coloring Book of Women Pioneers in STEM, features brief biographies of each of the 19 scientists, accompanied by illustrations by graphic artist Paula Kinsel representing each scientist and their work. The book also includes a resource list highlighting 15 organizations whose work directly supports broadening gender equity and diversity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including the National Girls Collaborative P

Fontbonne Hall Wins AP Computer Science Award From College Board

The Tablet February 2, 2021 Photo courtesy: Fontbonne Hall BAY RIDGE Fontbonne Hall, The Lab School for Girls, has earned the College Board’s 2020 AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for expanding young women’s access to Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles (CSP). Fontbonne was one of 831 schools to be nationally recognized for this achievement. This honor also acknowledges the work Fontbonne is doing to engage more students in computer science and to close the gender gap. According to the National Girls Collaborative Project, women only earn 18% of computer science bachelor’s degrees and account for 28% of the science and engineering workforce.

CS Energy is Working to Advance Opportunities for Women in Renewable Energy CS Energy, a leading integrated energy firm that designs and builds optimized projects in the solar, storage, and emerging energy industries, has launched an employee-led effort to support, as well as increase the number of women on its team and within the broader renewable energy industry. In spite of the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 global pandemic, a group of female employees, with the support of executive management, launched CS Energy s Women in Renewable Energy (CS Energy WiRE) program in the spring of 2020. CS Energy WiRE aims to engage the female employees at CS Energy and provide them with the tools needed to grow and advance through a network of support and mentoring. The group is designed for all female employees across the various departments to collaborate and grow both professionally and personally.
