Baff contest invites filmmakers to submit work

The Asean Short Film Competition and Southeast Asian Project Pitch are open to submissions until July 31.
The activities are part of the 7th Bangkok Asean Film Festival (Baff) to be held from Sept 1-6. The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Culture and supported by the National Federation of Thai Film Associations and private and public sector partners.
According to Minister Itthiphol Kunplome, the film festival is part of the government s strategy to develop the local film industry (2017-2021) and make Thailand a film shooting location and production hub in the region. In addition, the government is aiming to use the film industry as soft power to promote Thai culture and tourism among the international audience.
