59 hill unions in Bangladesh to get broadband internet connection

Fifty-nine unions under Bangladesh s three hill districts Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari will get permanent broadband internet connectivity soon as the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved a proposal in principle in this regard on Wednesday.
As per the proposal, Bangladesh Computer Council will implement the project through Bangladesh Army awarding it a contract through direct procurement method.
‘The BCC will award the contract to the Bangladesh Army to implement the project,’ said Shamsul Arefin, additional secretary to the Cabinet Division, while briefing reporters on the decisions of the Cabinet body.
No tree to be felled unnecessarily at Suhrawardy Udyan: Project Director

As the government gives priority to saving trees, no tree will be felled unnecessarily while implementing the mega plan at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan. For that reason, the government will start planting trees in the coming monsoon and at least 1000 trees will be planted, said the project director of Shawdhinata Stambha (independence monument) construction project (Third Phase) at the Suhrawardy Udyan M Habibul Islam.
He said that after the completion of the project it will take a beautiful look, he said. We hope that those who are denouncing now will appreciate it at the end of the project, if they have that kind of mentality to appreciate, he said.

Development work of the Swadhinata Stambha (Independence Monument) project on Suhrawardy Udyan and Shahbagh Shishu Park in the capital has seen slow progress in the last three years despite the prime minister’s directive to quickly implement the project.
According to official documents, the project (third phase) started in January 2018 and was supposed to be completed by December, 2020 before the golden jubilee celebration of the country’s independence, but the progress of the project has got stuck due to negligence of the authorities concerned.
