Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi has started her new term in the Rajya Sabha after taking an oath as a member of the Upper House. She will represent Rajasthan in the Council of States, filling the vacant seat after former prime minister Manmohan Singh s tenure ended. Sonia is the second member of the Gandhi family to enter the Rajya Sabha after former prime minister and her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi.
Sources said that the situation has come to a head and bigger parties in the alliance, including the BJP and chief minister Nitish Kumar’s JDU, are considering sacrificing a couple of seats to balance the numbers and keep the NDA flock united, especially when the Opposition is trying to lure them
The BJPs meeting will include representatives from other parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, and Bihar.
