In my very early days in the Libertarian movement I encountered a publication entitled
The Libertarian Handbook 1973 (Vincent McCaffrey and Mark Frazier, editors; published by Avenue Victor Hugo, Boston, Massachusetts). It was a useful catalog/guide of organizations, services, publications, and related pre-Internet networking tools. It also had a few essays or articles of a philosophical bent. One of these has firmly stuck in my mind since I first read it decades ago. It vigorously put forth the case that the Libertarian movement would remain merely a side show academic exercise or parlor game until it focused upon the real nature of the military hierarchical command structure of obedience and deference to higher authority of the National Security State. joining me now is jay from the the american center for law and justice and lenny david, fox news contributor. welcome back. how are you? let s give some history here. jay, we will start with you. this was actually signed a similar national defense resources preparedness by bill clinton. you have similar orders signed by device eisenhower, george w. bush, but there are some differences. there are things of that changed that have brought legitimate criticism and concern. can you go through that? i think you are absolutely right. the idea is nothing new. presidents have had this since the 1950s. what is different about this one than the other ones is the definition of national defense. it is incorporated what is called the fafer act but it gives the president more authority than the previous acts. the previous acts didn t give in
