The 70th annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday will include several public assemblies across the Victor Valley who will pray for America under this year’s theme “Lord, Pour Out Your Love, Life, and Liberty.”
The NDP theme, which comes from the biblical passage 2 Corinthians 3:17, is the banner over the ceremony that centers on praying for the nation’s leaders, families, schools, children, first responders, military and the economy.
Many of the prayer events will be led by church, ministry, nonprofit and community leaders. Keynote speakers, music, readings, skits and other activities may also be included.

(RNS) In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted many observances of the annual National Day of Prayer to go virtual, with a focus on praying for those who were sickened or died.
A year later, as the 70th observance occurs on Thursday (May 6), pandemic prayers continue and, in some cases, are being coupled with petitions for racial justice.
May 2—National Day of Prayer Thursday is observed as National Day of Prayer in the United States, as established by Congress and signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1952. Toledo Prays invites the community to participate in the observation online or in-person at Life Chapel, 30470 Lemoyne Rd., Walbridge. "Lord pour out your Love, Liberty and Life" is the theme of the gathering at 7 .
