Durban’s mummy Peten-Amun could be returned to Egypt as a growing trend to return historical artefacts to their countries of origin gains traction across the globe.
According to history, the mummy was bought by the Durban Museum sometime between 1889 and 1910 from a British army officer, Major William Joseph Myers, who brought the mummy from Egypt when he came to South Africa at the end of the 19th century, having served in Egypt for five years
