Interfaith Day to centre on human trafficking

The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Cults and Religions, along with other pertinent institutions, are preparing for the 7th annual Interfaith Day, due on August 20. The key focus this year is the fight against human trafficking in Cambodia, leveraging the power of faith-based education to instil moral virtues and thus deter unlawful acts.

CPU breaks ground for state-of-art care centre

The Child Protection Unit (CPU) has begun construction of the Kingdom’s first centre that will offer protection and support services to children who have been sexually or physically abused. The new centre will be equipped with modern facilities to help conduct investigations and gather evidence. A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for the “Rumduol Centre”.

Census of migrants in Thailand planned

The Ministry of Interior convened an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss the issue of undocumented workers and those with expired work permits in Thailand. Thai authorities have requested that their Cambodian counterparts send a team to Thailand to collect data and provide ID cards to all Cambodian workers.

Interior ministry, South Korea drafting anti-trafficking MoU

The Ministry of Interior held a February 2 consultative inter-ministerial meeting to discuss the drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Cambodian and South Korean governments on cooperation to combat human trafficking and transnational crime.

New anti-trafficking commission established

The government issued a directive which established an inter-ministerial commission to step up operations to combat human trafficking, including labour trafficking and the sex trade.
