(PNA file photo) MANILA - The Quezon City government has signed a partnership with seven big hospitals in the city to help indigent residents pay their hospital bills through its Medical Assistance Program (MAP). In a statement issued by QC Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday, she said the city government is very much aware of the situation of their indigent residents most especially when it comes to health matters. "Batid ng lokal na pamahalaan ang hirap na dinaranas ng mga pasyenteng walang kakayahang mabayaran ang kanilang bayarin sa ospital. Kung kani-kanino at kung saan-saan sila lumalapit, kaya naman tayo na mismo ang gumagawa ng paraan para maibsan ang kanilang kalbaryo kahit paano (The local government knows the sufferings of patients who cannot pay their hospital bills. They have to ask for help from different people and so, we are trying to find a solution to at least lessen their burdens)," Belmonte said. The city's hospital partners are the Lung Center of the Phil

File photo MANILA - Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano on Sunday said he strongly agrees with the decision of some local government units (LGU) chiefs to allow only the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years old with the consent of their parents or guardians. "Parent's consent is a requirement before any child is administered with Covid (coronavirus disease 2019) vaccine," he said. Ano said the consent of the parents whose children will undergo the vaccines is something that should be done. Ano made this comment after Quezon City Mayor Josefina "Joy" Belmonte, Valenzuela City Mayor Rexlon "Rex" Gatchalian, Malabon City Mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta III, and Navotas City Mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco issued the condition separately even as vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. assured the public that the jabs were "safe and have been studied by scientists across the globe." (File photo) MANILA - The sites identified for pediatric vaccination will start receiving the delayed jab deliveries on February 5 just in time for the rollout of five to 11-year old inoculation on February 7, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday. Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said all identified vaccination sites in Metro Manila, Region 3 (Central Luzon), and Region 4-A (Calabarzon) would be operational on that day and would then expand to other regions by February 14. The pilot was originally set on February 4 but was rescheduled after a third-party logistics partner failed to ship the 780,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses on February 3. "It has already left Brussels. It was in Hong Kong and it's going to arrive tonight. Mayroon na rin kaming mga allocation per area depende kung ano 'yong immediate na na-submit nilang registration (We already have an allocation per area depending on the immediate needs based on the registrations)," Cabotaje said.
