NHS England funds first national metastatic breast cancer audit
21st May 2021
NHS England (NHSE) has announced that it will fund the first ever national metastatic breast cancer audit, in a bid to provide accurate figures of how many people in England are living with secondary breast cancer.
In a statement, UK-based charity Breast Cancer Now said it was ‘proud’ of the milestone after campaigning for over a decade for improved data collection.
The charity added that the announcement for the national metastatic breast cancer audit comes 12 years after the National Cancer Intelligence Network committed to delivering this data, in response to an earlier Breast Cancer Now campaign.

The International Journal of Unconventional Computing will soon be publishing Cancer s Intelligence which reports that Cancer can be analyzed as an intelligent system of collaborating and computing cells. The limitations of the current regime of cancer research and treatment are addressed, and the resultant need for new paradigmatic thinking is presented. Features of intelligence pervade the natural world from humans to animals of all sizes and complexity to microorganisms. Yet, cancer has hitherto not been investigated as acting with intelligence as it evades the body and the oncologist s failed attempts to eradicate it.
