Its a pleasure to be here today to talk about the i. P. Transition. But before we do what i want to talk about is another transition thats been occurring and thats directly related, and thats the transition of our networks from copper to fiber. Of course its generally understood today Everybody Knows that fiber to the home is the best Broadband Network possible and one that many are striving to obtain. When verizon started to roll this out ten years ago it wasnt so obvious and we got a lot of questions about why we were doing this. Who needs 30 megabits per second . But Everybody Knows today that we need much more than that which is why were now up to 500 per second over the fiber and much more to come. So fiber is an important part of the i. P. Transition and a basis for the i. P. Transition. But the transition of voice from copper to fiber doesnt depend on i. P. And thats what i wanted to talk about for a few minutes. So fiber started in the Telephone Network many years ago. There ar
I am proud to say theres no cable tv. That is a very difficult thing. Christie the first part of your question. How will that help the libraries that are the furthest behind . They are definitely focused on those libraries and there would be a way to determine. That way hasnt been figured out yet but there would be a way to determine which libraries desperately need to begin a Pilot Project to get that connectivity. Okay we want to keep our efforts here on time. We have a couple of other questions. There was one question are there any studies or experiencexperienc s of the low. Versus highspeed libraries in terms of Service Quality and for i. D. . I think one of the challenges you know as we as she said linda salbi said that none of not everyone has said it. We all know for the most part its really bad out there and we have to get connectivity better but i think the real challenge is do we really understand and can we imagine what it would be like with better connectivity and even if w

Classified the Internet Access service and Information Services are limited to the really broadband Internet Access service. And there are things that broadband providers do that are not broadband Internet Access service that could be clarified to be the common Carrier Service that could get you some amount on the road in helping to create a more even Playing Field with regard to content that is transmitted by the providers so that is a possibility. And they could move relatively quickly on that. If it works under 706 and it constitutes Something Like the internet policy statement, it likely would have to be adopted as a rule with some clarification that allows them to affirmatively engage and differentiated services. So that they are not common Care Services or have a rule consistent with 706 high level rule, no walking and how that at adjudicated on the case by case basis. And chairman, we noticed on the case by case basis it would be appropriate, and that would not necessarily invol
Robert 20012011 and mcdowell served 2006 until just this year, 2013. And both have appeared on cspans Communicators Program on a regular basis. This weekend, current fcc. Ommissioner senior republican heres what he had to say about the decision on the open internet rules. [video clip] to be sure, there are some who argue there should be invested back to the future solution to internet regulation. That and looking at this innovative dynamic, broadband industry, we should apply the outdated, in my opinion, 19thcentury Railroad Style regulation. But i think the key for us if we really want to incentivize broadband deployment and greater investment in broadband infrastructure is to have an approach that leaves behind a heavyhanded economic regulations of the pass and recognizes the marketplace for what it is today, which is one of intramodal competition, telephone companies, cable, satellite, wireless and other Companies Competing to provide the same service. If we do that, i am confident
