Show Transcript BRANDI: A MAJOR EFFORT IS UNDERWAY IN CALAVERAS COUNTY TO GET MORE BOOKS INTO THE HANDS OF CHILDREN IN UNDERSERVED AREAS. A GRANT BY THE STATE LIBRARY IS MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO BRING THE FIRST EVER BOOKMOBILE TO THE COUNTY THIS SUMMER. DIVERSE BOOKS, LITERACY PROGRAMS, AND SERVICES WILL BE BROUGHT TO RURAL AREAS THAT DON’T HAVE LIBRARIES DURING THE PANDEMIC, LIBRARIES HAVE BEEN BUSIER THAN EVER TRYING TO KEEP CHILDREN AND FAMILIES ENGAGED BY READING. THE CALAVERAS COUNTY LIBARIAN SAYS EVERY COMMUNITY SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO GOOD BOOKS. WE ARE REALLY VERY INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO EXPOSE OUR CHILDREN TO AS MUCH DIVERSITY AS WE CAN. IT’S GOING TO BE SUPER. WE WILL BE ABLE TO REACH SOME AREAS WHERE WE DON’T HAVE BRANCHES, WHERE PEOPLE ARE MORE REMO
