Michigan DOT collaboration delivers high-performing, cost-effective pavement solution

MDOT would return to this same stretch of roadway 17 years later to check on its condition. The U.S. has over 3 million miles of paved public roadways. Republicans Leery of Catch-All Infrastructure Bill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called on Democratic committee chairs in Congress to begin crafting a big, bold and transformational infrastructure package but Republicans say a multi-trillion dollar catch-all bill could lose Republican support March 15, 2021 Zachary Walters/Facebook Earlier this month, President Biden, Vice President Harris and Secretary of Transportation Buttigieg hosted a White House meeting with the Chairman, Ranking Member, and six other members of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. While no decisions were announced, the meeting signaled that the White House is ready to move forward on a surface transportation bill and infrastructure package. 

Rieth-Riley in Gary wins national award for asphalt paving

Rieth-Riley Construction Co. in Gary won a national award for its work on the Indiana Toll Road. The National Asphalt Pavement Association, a Maryland-based trade association for the construction industry, awarded Rieth-Riley a 2020 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in the construction of asphalt pavement. The honor recognized Rieth-Riley s work on the Indiana Toll Road in Hammond last year. As part of the PUSH 2.0 project, the construction firm milled, treated and repaved 86 lane miles on the toll road that runs through northern Indiana from Illinois to Ohio.  Rieth-Riley worked in spring and fall on the design/build project, which also included 11 on-ramps and 16 bridges.
