Telangana aims to make life sciences a $100 billion industry

Hyderabad: Buoyed by the tremendous growth in the life sciences industry in Telangana amidst the pandemic over the last one year, the state government has set the vision to growing the sector to $100 billion dollars by 2030.
“Our dream and vision of growing the life sciences industry to over USD 100 billion looks plausible and we remain committed to it,” state’s industry minister K. T. Rama Rao told Bio Asia 2021, the annual flagship event which began here on Monday.

KT Rama Rao asks Centre to set up Covid vaccine testing lab in Hyderabad
The letter comes in the backdrop of India’s first indigenous vaccine against Covid-19, Covaxin, having been developed in Hyderabad by Bharat Biotech.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday reiterated his request to the Central government for the establishment of a Vaccine Testing and Certification Laboratory in Hyderabad, on the lines of Central Drug Laboratory in Kasauli.
He made the request via a letter addressed to Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan.

Hyderabad: K.T. Rama Rao has asked the central government to establish a vaccine screening lab in the city. The state’s Industries and IT minister pointed out the requirement of one such lab.
The minister wrote a letter to the Union Health Minister yesterday on the importance and requirement of setting up such a site. Rao said that in producing more than six billion doses and contributing to one-third of the global vaccines output, the city has come to be known as the Vaccine Capital of the World.

Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao has appealed to Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan to set up a vaccine testing and certification laboratory in Hyderabad, on the lines of the Central Drug Laboratory in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh.
Stating that Hyderabad is the ‘Vaccine Capital of the World’, he said the city manufactured 600 billion doses of different vaccines, contributing one-third of all the doses produced in the world.
