Taichung, May 23 (CNA) Forest rangers continue their efforts to tackle a fire on Maluan Mountain in Taichung, which started on May 19, the Dongshih Forest District Office said Sunday.
Over 60 forest rangers were dispatched that day to continue building a fire line and carry water to put out the fire, which has damaged an estimated 4.8 hectares of forest, the office said in a statement.
A fire line of 500 meters has been established, but bushes, grass and layers of dry foliage on the ground continue to fuel the fire and have enabled it to spread rapidly, according to the office.
