LEGAZPI CITY - Schools in three provinces of the Bicol region have suspended the scheduled administration of the National Achievement Test for Grade 12 (NATG12) on Monday, according to the Department of Education in Region 5 (DepEd-5). In an interview, Mark Kevin Arroco, DepEd-5 project development officer, said schools division offices (SDO) in the provinces of Camarines Norte, Masbate and Sorsogon rescheduled the examination from Jan. 30-31 to Feb. 2-3, this year. "SDO Camarines Norte announced that a spillway that serves as an access to several coastal barangays in Mercedes town was damaged due to heavy rains last week. Due to this incident, it has been inaccessible to test administrators and most students who will take the test. In Sorsogon, in compliance with the suspension of classes in all levels issued by the local government unit of Sorsogon City and Masbate, suspension of classes was also announced due to the continuous rains being experienced," Arroco said. He said
"Industry partners have expressed concern that the time allotment for work immersion is only for familiarization and not for actual skills acquisition," Duterte said.
A group of education workers urged the government to ensure that the results of the National Achievement Test (NAT) to be conducted by the end of this month will be used in improving the quality of education in the country.
