(WSIL) -The Southern Seven Health Department wants to know what questions you have about COVID-19. So they gathered a group of medical experts and people from the community to help you find out anything you would want to know about the COVID vaccine or the virus in general. The virtual COVID-19 Conversation panel will be streamed on Facebook live or you can join directly via zoom. Some panelists will be from the Illinois Department of Public Health, SIU school of medicine, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and the Pulaski-Alexander county chapter of the NAACP. By having many different voices on the panel, Southern Seven Health officials hope those who are experiencing hesitancy can have all their questions answered.

Wed, 05/19/2021 - 4:27pm admin The Southern Seven Health Department has announced a new drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic to be held in Anna. The clinic is scheduled for Monday, May 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People will be able to choose from the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the two-dose Moderna vaccine.  “We like to provide as many options as possible when we can here at Southern Seven Health Department,” said Nathan Ryder, Outreach Coordinator for Southern Seven’s Contact Tracing Team. “People seemed to enjoy the convenience and ease of getting vaccinated in the comfort of their car at our first drive-thru clinic so we decided to offer that opportunity again and this time, with two vaccine options to choose from.”

Neither vaccine is available for children under 16, and the clinic is only for those 18 and over.

The health department serves Alexander, Pulaski, Massac, Union, Johnson, Pope and Hardin counties in Southern Illinois. The pop-up vaccination events are aimed to reach some of the farthest outlying townships in each of the seven counties, the health department said. “While we’ve been working through our waitlists of individuals who were wanting to get vaccinated, we’ve been in place at large centralized locations to make it easy to maintain social distancing with the expected large crowds,” said Nathan Ryder, outreach coordinator for Southern Seven Health Department’s contact tracing team.
