East Otago lead scare: Council agrees to terms of reference for review

East Otago lead scare: Council agrees to terms of reference for review © RNZ / Nate McKinnon Dunedin City Council has agreed to the terms of reference for a review into its handling of the East Otago lead scare. The settlements of Waikouaiti, Karitane and Hawksbury Village are still taking drinking water from tankers after spikes in lead levels were found intermittently in the reticulated supply from July last year. An independent reviewer will be appointed by the council once the water supply is returned. That was expected to happen in the coming months with a tentative date of the end of June.

Foodstuffs selling stake in Warehouse Group

Foodstuffs selling stake in Warehouse Group © RNZ / Nate McKinnon One of the Warehouse Group s major shareholders is selling out. Supermarket operator Foodstuffs and two associates - Cash Wholesalers, and Wardell Brothers - have agreed to sell their 9 percent stake in the discount trader. At current prices, the stake is worth about $114m. The sale is underwritten, guaranteeing a sale, but the Warehouse has been put in a trading halt to allow for an orderly sale. Foodstuffs, the operator of New World, Pak N Save, and Four Square stores, bought into The Warehouse in 2005 when the big box retailer was looking at getting into grocery retailing.
