(WTWO/WAWV) – Understanding the role that teachers and counselors play in the social and emotional development of young children, United Way’s Success By 6 Impact Council distributed the book “The Invisible Boy” by Trudy Ludwig to all kindergarten teachers and libraries across the six-county United Way service area. “The Invisible Boy” centers around a little boy named Brian, who feels invisible during the school day—the other students don’t seem to notice him or think to include him in their activities. But when a new student arrives, Brian is the first to make him feel welcome. And when Brian and the new student team up to work on a class project together, Brian finds a way to shine.

(WDAM) - Local leaders and community members gathered in Sheeplo on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the opening of a new community center. District 4 Supervisor Roderick Woullard said the community center has been a goal for a long time. He thanked all the county staff that helped make it a reality. “It’s a great accomplishment and the people in the community deserve something like this,” Woullard said. “It serves as a voting precinct and a place to make memories. You know, when you start on projects, you envision them, but it exceeds all my visions. It really has.”
