Posted: March 8, 2021 East Kootenay Community Credit Union (EKC) continues with 70th Anniversary Legacy Campaign Congratulations to the Elk Valley Senior Housing Society’s Lilac Terrace in Sparwood, the third recipient of $10,000 from the $50,000 Legacy Campaign as the final part of its 70th Anniversary $115,000 Celebration! EKC’s Board of Directors initiated the celebration in honour of its 70th Anniversary. Its purpose is to continue support for strong, local communities and support community groups who have felt the impact of COVID-19. Lilac Terrace is a residence in Sparwood that offers affordable housing and support for seniors. There are 42 apartments, some of which are eligible for subsidized housing through BC Housing. More information can be found at www.lilacterrace.net.

EKC’s Board of Directors initiated the celebration in honour of its 70th Anniversary. Its purpose is to continue support for strong, local communities and support community groups who have felt the impact of COVID-19. The lack of safe and accessible housing has led to seniors leaving Elkford as they age. The Elkford Housing Society (EHS) was incorporated in 2018 with the vision to provide residents of Elkford with housing options that allow residents to remain in Elkford for as long as they desire regardless of socio-economic status or age. They recognize safe, affordable, and accessible housing for seniors would make Elkford a better place to live.

Posted: February 18, 2021 Congratulations to Cranbrook Search and Rescue Society – Highway Rescue, the first recipient of $10,000 from East Kootenay Community Credit Union’s (EKC) $50,000 Legacy Campaign as the third and final part of its 70 Year $115,000 Celebration! EKC’s Board of Directors initiated the celebration in honour of its 70 th Anniversary. Its purpose is to continue support for strong, local communities and support community groups who have felt the impact of COVID-19. EKC’s staff committee had overwhelming support for Cranbrook Search and Rescue Society. “We recognized the number of people the organization supports and the impact their work has in the East Kootenay,” said Pam Pinch, staff representative.
