The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State in the March 18, 2023 election, Dr Nasiru Gawuna, has said that he has accepted the Supreme Court judgment upholding the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), as God’s decision. Gawuna, who stated this during an interview with BBC Hausa, said that he had already wished Governor Yusuf well even before the litigation challenging the governor’s election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and members in Kano State had anticipated a Supreme Court verdict in their favour and gone ahead to share party clothes more commonly called “aso ebi” as well as renovated the party’ secretariat. SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Supreme Court on Friday affirmed the election of Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), thereby reversing his sacking by the Appeal Court. The apex court had returned 165,000 votes deducted by the appellate court to the governor.
The outcome of the ruling of the Supreme Court in the case between the Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf, and APC's Nasir Gawuna has evoked reaction from Kwankwaso.
