The Bangladesh government is implementing a project worth BDT 2,026 Crore to establish digital connectivity in the country’s Haor areas, islands and remote hilly areas that are deprived of telecommunication facilities.
Bandwidth use increased by 513 times in the country in the last 14 years, said Shyam Sunder Sikder, chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The monthly internet usage of mobile subscribers has more than doubled ever since the coronavirus pandemic began as more people are being pushed online for work and entertainment purposes.
