NASHIK: Twenty-two critically ill Covid-19 patients, including 10 women, died on Wednesday afternoon after their oxygen supply was disrupted for over an hour due to a leak in the tank providing oxygen at Zakir Hussain Hospital managed by the Nashik municipal corporation (NMC).
Eleven of the deceased were on ventilator support and the other 11 on oxygen. The victims were aged between 33 and 75. The hospital is a dedicated Covid facility and had 157 patients, 131 of them on oxygen support. Sixty-three patients were critical and 15 of them on ventilator support when the leak occurred.

At least 22 COVID-19 patients on ventilator support died on Wednesday due to an interrupted supply of medical oxygen at a civic-run hospital at Nashik in Maharashtra caused by the leakage of the gas from a storage plant, officials said.
A senior civic official said of the 150 patients admitted to the hospital, 23 were on ventilator support at the time of the incident while the rest were on oxygen support.

At least 22 patients died after an oxygen tank leaked at Zakir Hussain Hospital in Nashik on Wednesday, an official said. As many as 171 patients were present in the hospital at the time of the incident. The oxygen supply was stopped for half an hour due to the leak, because of which those on the ventilator lost their lives, said Kailash Jadhav, Commissioner, Nasik Municipal Corporation.

MUMBAI: At least 22 patients died on Wednesday due to the interrupted supply of oxygen at a civic hospital for Covid-19 patients in Nashik in Maharashtra following the leakage from an oxygen storage plant, district collector Suraj Mandhare said. As per the current information, 22 people have died due to the interrupted supply of oxygen at the Zakir Hussain municipal hospital. The patients were on ventilators as well as on oxygen supply, which got interrupted after the leakage in the oxygen supply tank, he told reporters.
