Over 21 years after 11 persons, including four women, were killed in Naroda village during post-Godhra riots in 2002, a court in Ahmedabad on Thursday declared all the 69 accused innocent. Among those declared innocent include then BJP MLA Maya Kodnani, VHP leader Jaideep Patel and Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi.
In March 2017, Maya Kodnani had sought the examination of 14 more witnesses in her defence, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was then the national president of the BJP. Shah appeared before the designated court on September 18, 2017.
