Olu Bajowa There are indeed some issues in one’s life time, which neither time nor event can obliterate from one’s memory. I have seen a lot of these events as a journalist, especially in and around Abuja our nation’s almost 45 years old capital. I have been writing about diverse people, places and events in recent times. FG establishes 10 new national parks, assures maximum security

Share The Minister of Environment, Dr Mohammad Abubakar, says that the Federal Government has established 10 new National Parks, even as he assured of maximum security at the parks across the country. Abubakar made the disclosure during a news conference on issues relating to environment, in Abuja, last week. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 10 new parks have brought the total number of national parks in the country to 17. The minister stated that an executive bill would soon be presented to the National Assembly to legal backing to the development. The minister listed the new parks to include Allawa Game Reserve, Allawa National Park 310km square Niger, Apoi Forest Reserve, Apoi National Park 64.77km square Bayelsa, and Edumenum Forest Reserve Edumenum National Park 86.76km square Bayelsa.

Breaking News | FG designates 10 forest reserves as national parks

Minister for Environment, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar Mahmoud To ward off miscreants and tackle climate change, the Federal Government has created 10 new national parks in states’ owned forest reserves.   The Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar, said a law backing the proposed parks will be forwarded to the National Assembly as executive bill. According to him, the creation of additional parks has become vital in view of the prevailing effects of climate change and the United Nation’s policy of protecting 25 per cent of its member countries forests. Abubakar stated that their creation needed apparatus to ward off criminals, support the current fight against insurgency and organised crimes, especially, elements living or looking for hideouts in these areas.

Buhari Approves Establishment of 10 New National Parks

By Michael Olugbode President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of 10 additional national parks, bringing the number nationwide to 17. Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar, at a press conference yesterday in Abuja, listed the parks to include Allawa Game Reserve, Apoi Forest Reserve and Edumenum Forest Reserve. Others are Falgore Game Reserve, Hadeja Wetland Game Reserve, Kampe Forest Reserve, Kogo Forest Reserve, Marhai Forest Reserve, Oba Hill Forest Reserve and Pandam Forest Reserve. He added that to give credence and legal backing to the establishment of the 10 national parks, an executive bill will soon be presented to the National Assembly for passage into law.
