He saw a young man with a bicycle that had a flat tire and my father, being the way he is, he was out walking the dog and he said, he probably said hey young man, can i help you with that flat tire . Last friday night in this palo alto neighborhood at linden and seneca he grabbed a light poem from his home of 48 years. When he returned, unbeknownst to him, the young man was armed with a knife and began violently stabbing him. Its to my understanding it was multiple, multiple stab wounds to the neck and the face. Reporter neighbors who witnessed the assault told his wife and immediately called 911. It was a random, violent attack against an elderly male for no apparent reason. It seems as though theyre going to be here for a long time processing the area. The shooting where it happened is right down the road. This is a very small town and a very rural area. Lets roll the videotape from earlier today. This is what we know. Deputies were called to this home at around 12 30. When they got here, they saw a man shouldering a shotgun, a beer, and a knife. Thats when the standoff began. Sheriffs deputies tried to engage the man for about nine hours. We dont have many details about that. We dont know if he was in the home alone or not, and we have no idea why police were even called. But sudden at around 9 20, a volley of bullets rang out. Two deputies injured.
