Staglin Family Vineyard asked to quadruple visitation, a group of rural neighbors pleaded for far less and the Napa County Planning Commission came up with a number somewhere in-between.
Whether commissioners satisfied anyone with their Wednesday decision remains to be seen. Neither the attorneys representing the Staglins nor the neighborhood group could be reached afterward for comment. Once again, the issue involved a winery along a narrow, rural, dead-end road that also has homes, in this case, Bella Oaks Lane.

Napa County will examine how well its COVID-19 vaccination program worked in the early days, though where a vaccination given to county Supervisor Belia Ramos fits in â if at all â remains to be seen.
The county Board of Supervisors on Thursday considered the proposal at the request of Supervisor Diane Dillon. It voted to move ahead by unanimous vote.
Dillon brought up doing a report at last Tuesdayâs Board of Supervisors meeting. She mentioned âa colleagueâ who had received a first-dose vaccination in January as raising questions among some in the public.

The Napa County Fire Departmentâs annual chipping program is set to begin Monday. Residential properties within the unincorporated areas are eligible for this free program designed to help property owners comply with state and local defensible space requirements.
Defensible space is designed to slow the spread of wildfire and can help protect buildings from catching fire, either from direct flame contact or from radiant heat.
âDefensible space is one of the most critical factors property owners have control over when it comes to helping protect their homes from the wildfires that plague our area,â said Napa County Fire Chief Geoff Belyea. âDefensible space also gives our firefighters a fighting chance to save your property in the face of these increasingly intense fires.â
