Driver injured in two-car crash in Straight River Township
The injured driver was trying to remove a dog from her lap when the accident happened, a Hubbard County Sheriff s Office press release says.

A woman was injured Sunday, May 9 in a two-vehicle crash in Hubbard County.
According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, the accident was reported at 12:35 p.m. on County Road 14 in Straight River Township.
Responding deputies assisted one of the injured drivers into a North Memorial Health ambulance.
Investigation showed that Leah Heegard, 44, of Menahga was traveling west on County 14 in a 2017 Toyota 4-Runner when she stopped and waited to turn south onto 135th Avenue. Meanwhile, Naomi Maki-Parks, 42, was also traveling west on County 14 in a 2006 Ford Escape and collided with Heegard’s vehicle while trying to get one of her three dogs off her lap.
