Created by Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde, “West Cork” is an investigation into the 1996 murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier. Du Plantier, a French film producer, was found near her holiday home around the West Cork town of Schull, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. The case is widely known in Ireland, a dragged-out national fiasco and long source of morbid public fascination.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge congratulates Jenna Al–Ansari Chernobyl producer Sister and Olivia Colman’s prodco South of the River Pictures (SOTR) have given a TV development commission to a new writer-performer as part of their inaugural Screenshot competition. Bahraini-British performer Jenna Al-Ansari won for her one-woman political satire Protect & Survive, which was picked out by a panel that included BBC commissioning editor Tanya Qureshi, Channel 4 head of comedy Fiona McDermott and Sky commissioning editor Tilusha Ghelani.
