“Chernobyl” producer Sister is adapting the hit Audible original podcast “West Cork” for TV.
Created by Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde, “West Cork” is an investigation into the 1996 murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier. Du Plantier, a French film producer, was found near her holiday home around the West Cork town of Schull, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. The case is widely known in Ireland, a dragged-out national fiasco and long source of morbid public fascination.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge congratulates Jenna Al–Ansari
Chernobyl producer Sister and Olivia Colman’s prodco South of the River Pictures (SOTR) have given a TV development commission to a new writer-performer as part of their inaugural Screenshot competition.
Bahraini-British performer Jenna Al-Ansari won for her one-woman political satire Protect & Survive, which was picked out by a panel that included BBC commissioning editor Tanya Qureshi, Channel 4 head of comedy Fiona McDermott and Sky commissioning editor Tilusha Ghelani.

The show saw Al-Ansari, who only started writing in 2019, take to the stage as newly minted Conservative MP Bambi Buttery-Potts, battling to have her nuclear protection campaign taken seriously.
