Today’s obituary: Naomi Blumenthal, NYS state Fair fair horse shows super for 40 years Updated Dec 18, 2020; Facebook Share Naomi Blumenthal, 78, of Syracuse, died on Monday after a long illness. According to her obituary, Blumenthal was a 1956 graduate of Nottingham High School and received a degree in psychology and elementary education from Syracuse University in 1962. She taught elementary school in Liverpool. Her love of horses brought her to her next career as an entrepreneur running a horse farm. Blumenthal opened an indoor arena ring in the area and hosted horse shows year round. She hosted the World of Horses Tent at the New York State Fair and served as superintendent of the fair horse shows for 40 years.

Photo by EQ Media FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Dec. 15, 2020 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) leadership is saddened to announce that Naomi Blumenthal passed away peacefully Dec. 13, surrounded by her family. Blumenthal, 78, from Manlius, New York, served the IHSA for over 40 years. She taught equestrian studies and equine business management at Cazenovia College for 27 years and was a coach of the Cazenovia College IHSA Equestrian Team. She was a longtime member of the IHSA board of directors, first as a regional president, then as zone chair and for many years as executive treasurer. She helped a lot of people in the horse industry get a leg up, said Peter Cashman, IHSA executive director. People will never know how many she s helped. She always thought about other people. She was a self-made woman and could be tough but had a soft heart. As a human being, she was tops. She will be thoroughly missed. There will be a void without Naomi
