CNA photo Oct. 12, 2018 Taipei, Feb. 2 (CNA) The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a nine-year prison sentence against an unlicensed driver whose street-racing escapade resulted in the deaths of three pedestrians in Taipei in 2018. The diver, surnamed Huang (黃), had appealed a High Court ruling, which found him guilty of endangering the safety of public traffic resulting in death, and he was sentenced to nine years in prison. The case had been in the appeal courts case since 2019, after the Taipei District Court ruled against Huang and a friend surnamed Hsieh (謝), both 24, whose street racing on Nanjing East Road during rush hour on Oct. 11, 2018 resulted in the deaths of three pedestrians.
