Covid-19 (March 16): 1,063 new cases, 5 deaths Published Modified16 Mar 2021, 11:01 am A - COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,063 new Covid-19 cases, which is the lowest figure for daily new infections since Dec 9 last year.  Malaysians made up the majority (76.9 percent) of new cases as opposed to foreigners, who were usually infected while working in construction sites or factories. Active cases: 15,204 Deaths There were five new Covid-19 deaths reported today. Three were reported in Sarawak while Selangor and Kuala Lumpur reported one death each. Sarawak has reported 94 Covid-19 related deaths and ranks fifth after Johor (103), Kuala Lumpur (112), Selangor (312) and Sabah (382). The national Covid-19 death toll stood at 1,218.

Covid-19: Sarawak records 183 new cases, three deaths and three new clusters

KUCHING: Sarawak reported 183 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (March 16), as well as three deaths and three new clusters. The state disaster management committee said the latest fatalities were men aged 69,72 and 84 with comorbidities such as hypertension, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes. All three passed away at Sibu Hospital on March 15, bringing the state s death toll to 94. Of the new clusters, two are community clusters and one is linked to a workplace. One of the community clusters, dubbed the Nanga Bulo cluster, has 34 confirmed cases to date from three longhouses in the Julau district. The index case is a 55-year-old woman who tested positive on March 8 at Sibu Hospital while receiving emergency treatment for breathing difficulties, cough and fever.
