“The road was tarred less than a year ago, and sections are already sinking. This highlights the subpar workmanship of BBMP. Where else in the world does this occur? Who would tolerate it? It seems it will remain like this for days before BBMP addresses it,” said a regular commuter. While the damaged part of the road is temporarily barricaded, locals say it poses a dangerous situation for motorists as it is a busy stretch.

According to BBMP DCF, de-concretising trees across the city is a huge task, and the Forest Department is taking up the issue with the Road Infrastructure Department yet again. A drive to deconcretise tree bases will also be launched soon.
