PM to launch tourist project Al-Beruni Radius at Nandana fort today

Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch Al-Beruni Radius, a tourism project for the revival of Pakistan s heritage on Sunday.
The Prime Minister is keen in preservation and conservation of the site, aimed at converting it into an international tourism site.
The site s archeological significance dates back to 11th century when famous scholar Abu Rehan Al-Beruni during his stay quantified the circumference of the Earth.
Al-Beruni later wrote a famous book about the region and mentioned Nandana as a great center of learning.
The historical Nandana Fort is located in tehsil Pind Dadan Khan of district Jhelum.

The district administration has finalised arrangements for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Nandana Fort on Sunday (today).
Jhelum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pervez Akhtar and Jhelum District Police Officer (DPO) Shakir Hussain Dawar visited Baganwala on Saturday to check the route and parameters of the premier’s visit to the ruins dating back to the eighth century.
Pind Dadan Khan Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mian Murad Hussain Nikokara gave a detailed briefing on the arrangements. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan will visit Nandana Fort on February 28. He is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone of three national parks in the Salt Range Basharat area in Jhangar Valley.
Govt promoting tourism to earn foreign exchange: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the government is promoting tourism to earn foreign exchange and generate employment in the country.
Talking to media at Nandana Fort in Jehlum district today (Sunday), he said Pakistan has immense potential for mountain, coastal and historic sites tourism.
He said Nandana Fort is the place, where great Muslim Scientist Abu Rayhan al-Biruni had measured the circumference of the Earth. He said Nadana was a seat of learning in the past, which needs to be showcased in the world.
He said the government is going to develop this spot as modern village to provide facilities to tourists. He said this will bring the entire area on the world tourism map.

JHELUM (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Sunday has said that there is a need to preserve cultural heritage for future generation of Pakistan.
While addressing a press conference after launching Al-Beruni Radius, a tourism project for the revival of heritage at Nandana fort, the premier said that tourism provides opportunities for employment for the people.
He said that the recent discovery of a 40-feet long statue of sleeping Buddha from Haripur shows rich cultural heritage of Pakistan. Salt range of Pakistan is still unexplored, he added.
