NATCHITOCHES â The Natchitoches Historic Foundation and the Cane River Waterway Commission have partnered on a project to preserve and renovate one of the stateâs most iconic buildings, the Pacale-Roque House at Rue Beauport Riverfront on the downtown banks of Cane River Lake.
NHF leaders made a formal presentation to the Commission Wednesday evening and the panel voted to approve the partnership and authorize funding the project up to an anticipated cost of $1.5 million.
The NHF will mount a vigorous effort to include federal, state and other local governmental agencies, educational institutions, business and industry, civic and professional organizations, as well as individuals in a fundraising campaign to complement the CRWC support. The outreach in developing concepts for the project already has included dialogue with local and regional preservation and historical entities, notably the St. Augustine Historical Society, which serves the area on the south end of Cane Ri

PARISHVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - On February 11, 2021, Joan left this world with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 27, 1936 the youngest daughter of James and Irene (Murphy)OâBrien. She attended St. Maryâs Catholic School and graduated from Canton High School in 1954. She obtained her first job at the New York Telephone Company where she worked as a telephone operator for ten years.
In 1956 she married Raymond E. Waite with Father Griffith Billmeyer presiding. The wedding party consisted of friends and family members. They honeymooned in Lake George and settled in Pierrepont until 1966 when they moved to the High Flats area in the Town of Parishville where they have resided for the remainder of her life.
